The United Kingdom (UK) parliament is currently debating sanctions to slam on Nigerian government officials involved in the killing of peaceful protesters in Lekki on October 20 and other parts of the country.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports opening the #NigeriaPetitionDebate, Theresa Villiers MP backed petitioners’ calls for targeted sanctions in light of allegations of police brutality and human rights abuses in Nigeria.
The Petitions Committee had scheduled the debate in Westminster Hall on the motion “That this House has considered e-petition 554150, relating to Nigeria and the sanctions regime”.
