A thirty-year-old man, simply identified as Gift, on Wednesday died with several others seriously injured following a boat mishap along the Orerokpe River in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.
The remains of the Abia State indigene has been deposited in the Central Hospital morgue in Warri.
It was learnt that the speed boat conveying the deceased and other passengers to his place of work was on high speed when it collided with another speed boat also on a very high speed at the creek (a sharp bend).
The deceased drowned alongside the speed boat and died while other passengers sustained serious injuries.
At the time of filing this report, the deceased’s eight-month pregnant wife, Ufuoma, whom he married late last year and his (deceased) family, were in a state of mourning when our correspondent visited their residence in Warri.
