Liverpool star Mohamed Salah admits he was disappointed being overlooked for the captaincy last week.
Salah had hoped for the armband as Jordan Henderson was benched for the Champions League tie with FC Midtjylland, but it was given to Trent Alexander-Arnold instead.
Salah told AS: “Honestly, I was very disappointed.
“I was hoping to be the captain, but it’s a coach’s (Jurgen Klopp) decision. I accept it.”
Asked if he regards himself among the world’s best players, Salah continued: “Yes absolutely. Yes. [Laughs] When I look back on my career I want to feel that I achieved something special, that I did something special. That’s why I try to do my best in every game and every year for the club and also for myself.”
