ABS Football Club of Ilorin scored a goal in each half on Saturday to begin the 2021/2022 Nigeria National League (NNL) season brightly.
They beat visiting Yobe Desert Stars of Damaturu 2-0 in their Match Day 1 fixture at the Kwara Stadium Complex in Ilorin.
However, in spite of having more young players, ABS FC were made to labour very hard before they could see off the experienced Yobe Desert Stars.
Speaking after the match, the coach of ABS FC, Jerome Igbankwe, expressed happiness over his boys’ performance.
He however said the lapses noticed or experienced during the game were normal because many of his players are young.
The coach added that they were yet to gather experience as plenty of them are playing the league for the first time.
“We will get better with time. You need to be patient with young players.
“But we will continue to assist them to develop to the kind of players we want them to be,” Igbankwe said.
