[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Increase comes from God

[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Enter the ark

Read: Isaiah 26:1-4

Meditation verse:

“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he  trusts in You” (Isaiah 26:3).

I recall having a conversation with a lady some time ago about the insecurities  of the times. As we mused about the current difficulties, she said that her  husband had told them that as a family they were all inside Noah’s ark. I laughed,  but as I recalled our conversation moments later, I couldn’t help agreeing with  her. The bible records a time when there will be so much iniquity and  lawlessness in the land that God instructed Noah to build an ark and enter it  with his family, because He was going to destroy the earth with flood waters.

The ark in biblical times was a symbol of YAHWEH’s presence. Amid the present  insecurities, we need to enter the ark with our loved ones and shut the door.  We enter the ark by daily abiding in God’s presence through prayers, worship,  and consecration. Psalm 91:1-7 says,

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High, shall abide under the  shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my  fortress; my God, in Him I will trust. Surely, He shall deliver you from the  snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you  with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall  be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,

nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in  darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand  may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not  come near you.

“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be  lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers,  disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers,  without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty,  lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God” (2 Timothy 3:1-4). We are currently  living in such times. So, enter the ark with your household and shut the doors  behind you.
