Chiamaka Nnadozie Super Falcons goalkeeper has explained that her father almost stopped her from pursuing her passion; football.

Nnadozie revealed that her father didn’t accept her decision to become a football player.

The goalie  disclosed this while accepting the African Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year gong at the CAF Awards in Morocco, on Monday night, said she was sure her dad would be proud of her latest feat despite not initially supporting her career.

“My dad never wanted me to play [football], but I am sure she will be proud of me tonight,” she said.

The Paris FC goalie defeated South Africa’s Andile Dlamini and Morocco’s Khadija Er-Rmichi to clinch the award.

Nnadozie is the first-choice goalkeeper for the Super Falcons of Nigeria, who also won African Women’s National Team of the Year.
