Euro 2024:Why we lost to England – Ronald Koeman

The Netherlands head coach, Ronald Koeman, expressed his belief that his team deserved extra time in their Euro 2024 semi-final loss to England.

The Dutch took an early lead in the first half before Harry Kane equalized from the penalty spot. In the 91st minute, Ollie Watkins scored the winner by capitalizing on Cole Palmer’s pass.

Speaking to ITV after the game, Koeman said, “In the second half, it was more 50/50. We had problems in our midfield in the first half and couldn’t control how they played between the lines with Bellingham and Foden, which was really difficult. We had to adjust by adding another player in midfield, and then it became a 50/50 match.

“My feeling was that in the last 20-25 minutes, our team was perhaps a little fresher than England.”

England, known as the Three Lions, will face Spain, La Roja, for the trophy on Sunday in Munich.
