Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday night arrested controversial Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, a.k.a Bobrisky, on his way to London.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that the male Barbie’s arrest comes shortly after Isaac Fayose, younger brother of former Ekiti state governor, disclosed on Instagram that he and crossdresser Bobrisky “boarded the same flight to London”.
Isaac, who had previously faulted Bobrisky’s detention by the police, took to his Instagram page on Thursday evening to share photos of himself with the self-proclaimed transgender.
“See who is on the same flight with me to London @bobrisky222,” he wrote.
However, in a recent post, Bobrisky, who had been inactive on social media due to recent detention, cried out to Nigerians for help, revealing that he had been arrested by the anti-graft agency and badly injured.
“Nigerians help me efcc just arrested me, i am badly injured,’’ he said.
Bobrisky’s rearrest comes after a recent episode with the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), which saw him stay in detention for days.
The social media celebrity was arrested by the NIS while attempting to flee the country through Seme Border, TNG recalls.
The attempt to flee and subsequent arrest comes amidst the ongoing probe of alleged bribery of officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) while serving a jail term for abuse of the naira.
The current status of Bobrisky’s detention, including any potential bail, remains unknown.
His ordeal started after VeryDarkMan shared a purported audio conversation wherein the crossdresser claimed that he paid some EFCC officials N15 million to drop money laundering charges against him.
In the recording, he also claimed that he spent his six-month jail term in an apartment rather than Kirikiri prison due to the influence of “my godfather”.
