PHOTOS: Chinese Consulate offers free eye treatment in Edo

Last Monday, November 11, 2024, the Chinese Consulate in Nigeria flagged off its free eye treatment and surgery for the people of Edo State.

The programme involved screening, treatment and surgery for 120 people living with sight problems, out of whom, 20 would be children.

The Consulate also gave cash awards of N2m to be shared among the first 20 people to register for the programme.

The exercise being held at the Ophthalmology Department of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) has as supporters Yongxing Steel Company, Benin; UBTH; and Edo State Government.

Dignitaries at the event included the Chinese Ag Consul General to Nigeria, Jin Mingsu; the Chief Medical Director of UBTH, Prof. Darlington Obaseki; Permanent Secretary, and Edo State Ministry of Health, Dr Stanley Eriamwiam.

Others are the Chairman of Yongxing Steel Comatose Nigeria, Mr Zhang Xhianghai; the MD, Mr Frank Wong; and a host of others from the Consulate, the UBTH community, Edo State Government and the businesses.
