The Police Command in Delta has ordered massive deployment of personnel to the nooks and crannies of the state to maintain law and order during and after the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
Mr Abaniwonda Olufemi, the Commissioner of Police in the state disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Warri.
Olufemi said that the command had stepped up it’s effort to combat crimes and enhanced public safety throughout the festive period.
“I have deployed officers of the command to all Muslim worship centres and other nooks and crannies of the state to step up security.
“The deployment is line with the statutory mandate of securing lives and property, maintaining peace and order at all times,” he said.
The commissioner urged the public to continue to assist and collaborate with the police and other security agencies to enable them to serve them better.
Olufemi admonished the public to be security conscious and law abiding.
“Take appropriate measures towards the protection of your personal effects, not only at home but also in public places such as: markets, worship centers, shopping malls and highways,” he said.
He extended his greetings to all Muslim residents in the state and wish them a happy and peaceful celebration.
