Kaduna NNPP Crises: Stakeholders threaten court action over guber candidate

NNPP reacts over defection of 2024 governorship candidate

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Ondo State says its governorship candidate in the state’s 2024 election, Olugbenga Edema, did not utilise the opportunities offered by the party.

Pastor Peter Olagookun, NNPP state Chairman, said this on Sunday in a telephone interview, while reacting to Edema’s resignation from the party.

Edema, on Sunday, resigned from NNPP, citing internal crisis in the party coupled with its ‘unserious attitude’ in achieving success.

“The leadership of the party in Edema’s local government is yet to brief me officially, but don’t forget that he is under suspension, and if he decides to leave the party, we wish him well.

“NNPP has tried by giving him the governorship ticket for the 2024 election, even though he did not use it very well nor show capacity, it has added to his political profile,” he told NAN.
