Wasiu Babatunde Adeniran, 60 has reportedly drowned on Tuesday after falling off his motorcycle along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Alakuko, Lagos State, during a downpour.
According to a police report, the incident occurred at about 4:00 p.m., when Adeniran lost control of his bike amid intense rainfall and was dragged by the flood down the expressway.
While the motorcycle was recovered two hours later, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the search for the missing man continued through the night.
His body was eventually found the following morning at around 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, in Obasanjo River, Ota, Ogun State—several kilometers from where the incident occurred.
“On 21/05/25 at about 1230hrs, a report was received that, on 20/05/25 at about 1600hrs, one Wasiu Babatunde Adeniran ‘m’ aged 60yrs, a motorcycle rider, fell off his motorcycle while he was riding it along Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway, Alakuko in the heavy rainfall.
“As a result, he was dragged by the flood along with the motorcycle. However, the motorcycle was recovered at about 1800hrs of 20/05/25 while the body was found at Obasanjo River, Ota, Ogun State at about 0900hrs of 21/05/25,” the report read.
A police team took photograph of the deceased’s body for documentation and later deposited at a public morgue for autopsy.
