The United States Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos will be closed on Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day, a U.S. federal holiday.
The U.S. Mission in Nigeria announced the temporary closure on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, noting that Memorial Day is dedicated to honouring American military personnel who lost their lives in service to the nation.
Observed annually on the last Monday in May, Memorial Day is marked in the United States with solemn ceremonies, flag displays, and tributes to fallen soldiers.
All routine consular services at both locations will be suspended for the day, with normal operations expected to resume on Tuesday, May 27.
The Mission advised those with urgent consular matters to visit its website for emergency contact details.
