Fatal head-on crash claim 9 lives in Jigawa

A tragic accident in Kyaramma village, Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State, claimed the lives of nine people on Saturday, June 7, at around 8:00 am.

The crash involved two Golf 3 saloon cars colliding head-on, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries, according to the Jigawa State Police Command.

In a statement from Dutse, the state capital, Police Public Relations Officer Shiisu Adam identified the drivers: Adamu Sunusi, 35, from Hadejia LGA, was driving vehicle Kaduna MKA 687 AY from Abuja to Gujungu town, while Bashari Danjummai, 30, from Sauna Area, Nassarawa LGA, Kano State, was driving vehicle KWL 606 KA from Hadejia to Kano.

Police and Motor Traffic Department personnel responded quickly to the scene and transported the injured to Ringim General Hospital for treatment.

Following a post-mortem examination, nine passengers, including both drivers, were confirmed dead.

“Eleven passengers are currently receiving treatment at the hospital and are responding well. Efforts are underway to identify all victims and notify their families,” Adam said.

The Jigawa Police assured the public that updates would be shared as the investigation continues.
