BREAKING: Former IGP, Solomon Arase is dead

In a profoundly saddening turn of events, Former Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Solomon Ehigiator Arase has reportedly passed away.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Arase was said to have died on Sunday while receiving treatment at Cedarcrest Hospital in Abuja. He was 69.

However, there is no official confirmation from his family or the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) yet.

Born on 21 June 1956, in Owan West, Edo State, Arase joined the Nigerian Police Force on 1 December 1981.

He held senior positions, including Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom, Assistant IGP in charge of intelligence, and head of the Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Bureau.

Arase became the 18th Inspector-General of Police in April 2015 under President Goodluck Jonathan. He also served in a UN peacekeeping mission in Namibia.

In January 2023, he was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), a role he held until his removal in June 2024 by President Bola Tinubu.
