A Deputy Superintendent of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has accidentally shot and killed his colleague at Life Camp in Abuja.

This is happening barely two days after eight NSCDC operatives were killed by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers in the Okpella area of Edo State.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama, quoting sources, disclosed that an NSCDC officer, DSC Adekunle Emmanuel, was hit by a bullet on the left upper arm above the bicep about 10 a.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2025.

The bullet was fired by a colleague while they were heading to a principal’s residence at Lias Estate from a hotel.

The victim was immediately taken to Maitama General Hospital, where doctors confirmed him dead.

His remains have since been deposited in the hospital morgue for preservation and an autopsy.

Sources further disclosed that the officer responsible for the shooting is in custody and being interrogated.
