Payments: FAAN goes digital

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has disclosed plans to deploy e-payment systems across about 22 airports in the country beginning May this year.

General Manager Corporate Communications FAAN, Henrietta Yakubu, made this known while speaking with journalists stressing all necessary arrangements had been made for smooth take-off of the exercise.

“All revenue payments to the Authority and other government agencies at the nation’s airports will now be done electronically.

“To ensure the seamless implementation of this policy, the Authority has deployed Point of Sales (POS) machines to payment points across the airport and official arrangements for direct transfers,” she said.

According to her, this policy applies to government revenue and exempts access gates, food courts, shops and other non-governmental (private) businesses operating at the airports.

TheNewsGuru reports effective May 14, FAAN will no longer accept cash as a mode of payment for official government revenue at airports.

“Whoever pays cash to any government official will be doing so at his/her own risk,” the Authority said.
