Five-time Grammy Award-winning singer Angélique Kidjo is set to make history as the first African artist to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Celebrated for her dynamic voice, genre-blending music, and captivating stage presence, Kidjo will be honored in the ‘Recordings’ category, joining a prestigious lineup that includes Miley Cyrus and The Clark Sisters. This honor acknowledges her decades of musical innovation and her unwavering commitment to spotlighting African culture and sound on the global stage.
The honorees were selected by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s Walk of Fame selection panel during a meeting held on June 20, chosen from among hundreds of nominees. The selections were officially approved by the Chamber’s board of directors on June 25.
Kidjo joins the Walk of Fame Class of 2026, a distinguished group of 35 trailblazers from across music, film, television, live theater, and sports entertainment.
“We are excited to announce the newest selections of 35 esteemed individuals who will be enshrined onto the Walk of Fame,” said Peter Roth, former CEO of Warner Bros. Television and chairman of the Walk of Fame selection committee, in a statement.
“These talented individuals have made significant contributions to the world of entertainment, and we are thrilled to honor them with this well-deserved recognition.”
