Davido, a Nigerian music sensation, has responded to the allegation of promoting cultism using a cryptic post.
This comes after the “DMW” label boss via the microblogging platform, X formerly Twitter on Monday, wrote, “Happy Metal,” a Tweet that has sparked mixed reactions.
However, recall that July 7 is celebrated by some as “World Davido Day” or “Davido Day,” following a proclamation by the Mayor of Houston, Texas, Sylvester Turner, in 2023.
The declaration was made to recognise Davido’s remarkable contributions to music, particularly after his sold-out show at the Toyota Arena in Houston.
The post sparked several reactions with many accusing the singer of promoting cultism. One post that stood out is that of a zealous fan of the singer identified as @vardysteveayo, who expressed disappointment, noting that the singer was , encouraging cult-related behaviour with such negative tweet.
“I love Davido and all that. But I’ll say it again, he’s always overdoing at times. Today he’s actively encouraging and promoting cultism. Smh. Omooo.”
He also called out other die-hard fans for constantly defending the singer, even when he does what he described as “nonsense.”
“As for una wey be real fan, make una continue dey defend some nonsense shey ee gbo.”
But Davido gave a quick and blunt reply:
“That one nah ur papa business.”
