Music legends never die, their melody lives on long after they are gone. Members of the original cast for the broadway musical, FELA! reawakened his memories at the just concluded FELA! broadway music concert. The music fiesta was a three-day marathon of sold out performances in honour of the Afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti. The concert held on April 13th-15th 2017 was part of the programme held to mark the Lagos @50 celebrations.
The high profile event conceived by iconic Bill T. Jones was held at Eko Convention Centre and had in attendance Nigerian celebrities like Don Jazzy, Sound Sultan, Keziah Jones, Katung Aduwak, Kate Henshaw, Kunle Afolayan and others. Top Lagos state officials like Information and Strategy Commissioner, Steve Ayorinde, and Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Adebimpe Akinsola, also made an appearance at the event.

With the ticking hours crawling into the late evening, the show swung into life when the Fela Broadway Musical band mounted the stage. Full of the energy that has remained a standout feature of the Fela Broadway musical band, Fela played by Adesola Osakalumi guided the audience through a music journey beginning Fela’s smashing hits Palava, Water, Zombie and others. The audiences were held spell-bound by the ever green songs of the music maestro.
One of the high-points of the night came when the saxophonist, Alex Harding showed his mastery of the saxophone like Fela. He played different melodious notes accompanied by a dancer , gyrating to his music seductively.
