How ‘Fake love’ revived Duncan Mighty’s career

When Duncan Mighty decided to collaborate with Wizkid for the mid -tempo pop song, ‘Fake love’, little did he know that the 4-minutes long song would be the master stroke that would revive his music career.

Since the release of the song, Duncan Mighty’s career has witnessed an upsurge.

Duncan Mighty

Duncan Mighty’s talent’s is not in doubt, however since Afro-pop took centre stage in the Nigerian music landscape in 2011 with the likes of Wizkid, Terry G and Wizkid ruling the airwaves, Duncan Mighty’s predictable genre of music was relegated to the background.

Ever since ‘Fake Love’ was released every Nigerian mainstream pop star wanted Duncan to replicate the vibe in their song.

The Obianuju crooner has worked with artistes like Reekado Banks on Bio Bio, Masterkraft on ‘Low Waist’, Ceeza Milli’s ‘Sabi’, ‘Uju’ by B-Red, DJ Xclusive’s ‘Gimme Love’, Bracket’s ‘Chinelo’ and the list goes on.

The Wizkid connection

Nigerian music producer, Ksolo alluded that Wizkid made the Nigerian music industry to start paying attention to Duncan Mighty once again.

According to him: ”Thank God for Wizkid that just woke every artiste up to Duncan Mighty, like he is just one new upcoming artist in Lagos,” he said.

We cannot deny the role of Wizkid being the man of the moment , whatever he does these days becomes fodder for bloggers.

Nigerian OAP, Osi Suave has a different opinion about the whole debate. He wrote on Twitter:” The people who say Wizkid made Duncan Mighty relevant must have started listening to music last year. Duncan mighty of Obianuju Scatter my dada Onye Nkpom I no blame una sha”.
