Flavour’s Enugu concert: Police calls on alleged rape victims

Following reports that some attendees of a concert organised by high-life singer, Flavour were allegedly gang raped, the State’s Police command has called on the victims to testify.

Punch reports that the Enugu State Police Command had on Wednesday called on residents who were victims to come forward and testify.

The command hinted that no victim had yet to report to any of its divisions, declaring that it was not cognizant of any rape case during the concert which held at the Michael Okpara Square last Saturday .

Recall that TheNewsGuru had reported that some attendees of the controversial concert alleged gang rapes occurred at the event.

Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, the state Police Public Relations Officer, in a statement had said investigation had not established any case of rape.

He stated that policemen were deployed in the concert to provide security, adding that the claim was doubtful.

Hear him: “The report (of the gang rapes), which is based on a Twitter message on the social media, is unfounded and we cannot operate on speculations as a law enforcement agency.

“Till now, nobody has come forward to report any case of sexual assault or molestation and rape to the command.

“However, our doors in the command, divisional headquarters and stations all over the state are open to anybody or group to make a report and we will take it up from there by doing further investigation.

“There is no reported case of rape anywhere in the Enugu State Police Command.

“We don’t have any incident arising from that event. Whoever has any should come forward, and we will look into it,” he told Punch.
