Gospel singer Frank Edwards has taken to social media to share a remarkable story about his mother’s unwavering support and guidance throughout his career.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, March 30th, the singer recounted how his mother’s wise counsel prevented him from signing a lucrative $320,000 deal with a group that sought full ownership of his music catalogue.
The 35-year-old noted that contract, worth approximately N492 million, would have compromised his artistic control and potentially altered the trajectory of his career.
However, his mother’s intuitive sense of discernment, saved him from a potential sacrifice of his creative freedom and his passion.
He further expressed his gratitude for his mother’s intervention, stating that he is happy she stopped him from closing the deal
Celebrating his mother, he wrote: “The very first time in my life years ago I was to close $320,000 deal from a group that wanted to almost own my entire catalogue. You said NO! And I quote you, ‘The 150,000 naira I gave you to start that studio is bigger than that money, just give it time. They are not of God.’ In fact, you took my international passport away from me just to ensure I don’t travel to close that deal, and I was laughing because I didn’t need to travel to close it but then I listened to you. After you said that, I was thinking, ‘How is 150,000 Naira bigger than $320,000?’”
