Nigerian singer, Omah Lay, has declared himself the greatest artist of his generation.
The Soso crooner via the microblogging platform, X formerly Twitter, acknowledged that while he may not have concrete proof just yet, the evidence will come with time.
“Hi guys! My name is Omah Lay and I am the greatest of my generation. I don’t have proofs right now but there will be a lot in the future. Thanks. Yours truly, Boy Alone,” he wrote.
This isn’t the first time the singer has spoken confidently about his artistic journey and future. In a 2023 interview with The Beat FM in London, Omah Lay shared his belief that he is one of the emerging leaders of the new Afrobeats era.
He also revealed that he had developed a “new sound” he intends to popularise globally, further cementing his ambition to redefine the genre.
With a growing fan base and hit songs under his belt, Omah Lay continues to position himself as a voice of the new wave in Afrobeats.
Omah Lay, who gained fame with hits like “Bad Influence,” “Soso,” and “Understand,” is one of Nigeria’s most streamed young artistes globally.
