I didn’t realise I was privileged – DJ Cuppy speaks on upbringing

DJ Cuppy, the popular Nigerian disc jockey and daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, has opened up about her upbringing.

According to Cuppy via the microblogging platform, X formerly Twitter, coming from a wealthy background shielded her from life’s struggles, which made her unaware of the realities many others face daily.

She further acknowledged that her version of normal is a dream for many and stressed the importance of recognising and valuing one’s blessings.

Growing up, I didn’t fully realise just how privileged I was. I never had to worry about anything tbh,” she said.

“Thank God I see it now. What felt normal to me was something someone else was praying for. Gratitude changes everything.”
