Nigerian filmmaker and actress Mary Njoku has shared her honest struggles with parenting, revealing that she’s finding it challenging to raise her three kids.
In a candid Instagram post, Mary expressed her admiration for her mother, who raised eight children and remained sane. She confessed that she’s already feeling overwhelmed with just three kids.
Her post says:
“Who’s awake?
Can’t sleep.
Thinking about how my mum raised eight kids and stayed sane.
Meanwhile, I’m losing it with just three”
Mary’s parenting struggles are not new, as she had previously shared her experiences on social media. Last year, she described parenting as a “real jungle” where one has to expect the unexpected. She emphasized the importance of agape love in parenting, highlighting how her kids are constantly testing her patience.
The mother of three has also shared humorous anecdotes about her parenting journey, including a conversation with her daughter who teased her about not enjoying fancy things during her youth. Mary’s kids have even called her “old” despite her being under 40.
In addition to sharing her personal struggles, Mary has also used her platform to advocate for mothers’ rights and raise awareness about the importance of supporting mothers. Last year, she emphasized that mothers should not be compelled to change their names to match their underage children’s, unless they are allowed to change the children’s names as well.
Mary has also offered advice to men on the importance of treating their wives with respect and kindness, highlighting how this impacts their children’s upbringing. She emphasized that a gentle wife and mother cannot raise children to be strong and confident if they are not supported and valued.
