Joeboy reveals reason Afrobeats went global

Afrobeats star, Joeboy, has stated that genre gained worldwide recognition, due to the outgoing nature of Nigerians, the country’s large population, and the influence of the diaspora.

The singer made this known in a recent interview with Zwart, where he attributed Afrobeats’ global success to these factors.

Afrobeats going global has been a long time coming,” he said. “There’s so much talent, so it’s only natural that we share it with the world. Nigeria’s huge population, both at home and abroad, played a big part in that.”

He added that Nigerians are naturally expressive and proud of their culture, which helps amplify the music wherever they are. “We’re loud — that’s what they say. And wherever we go, we love to represent. That energy, combined with social media and the quality of music coming out of Nigeria, really pushed Afrobeats to the world stage,” he explained.
