Popular actor Uche Odoputa has revealed the darkest period in his life. His story reads like another Nollywood script , but It is far from that.The talented actor who was arrested in 2007 by the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency for trafficking drugs and subsequently jailed for two years and three weeks, said he learnt different ways of drinking Garri during his stormy life’s experience . In a recent interview with BroadWay Africa he shared his emotional story.
He mentioned that although his colleagues abandoned him then for obvious reasons, he doesn’t hold it against them as it was a time for him to learn a lesson.He said his major regret was letting his family down and letting his London friends take advantage of his situation by talking him into the act.He revealed that he has never used drugs and the encounter was the first time he saw the item.
According to him: “During my darkest trials I learnt different ways of drinking Garri. The Mallam who lived in my neighborhood became my best friend because I would always get Garri on credit from him. My land lady actually walked in my room then and said she wants to demarcate my house into two mini flats while I still live inside so that I can choose from them and If not, pack out. It was that dark that my parents were disappointed at me. That’s how dark It was”
