Renowned author and director of ‘Ake’ Festival, Lola Shoneyin has expressed her opinion over the viral video of Cosmas Maduka, preaching in the public with a megaphone.
TheNewsGuru reports that a video of the business tycoon evangelizing was shared by Ovation publisher, Dele Momodu and Reno Omokri.
Referencing Momodu’s tweet, Shoneyin said: “Billionaire or busboy, noise pollution is a huge problem in Nigeria.”

While responding to criticism of her opinion, she said:” Is shouting in the streets through a megaphone how you practice your faith? If we all decided to do that, would there have peace? Would you tolerate a Sango-worshipper doing the same? The problem is the inability of some to respect public spaces and the rights of others”.
Shoneyin is a Nigerian poet and author[ who launched her debut novel, The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives, in the UK in May 2010. Shoneyin has forged a reputation as an adventurous, humorous and outspoken poet (often classed in the feminist mould), having published three volumes of poetry.
