Against all odds, some young Nigerians are still striving to put the nation on the map. Treasure Olawunmi Bayode is one of such youngsters, endeavoring to set a new Guinness world record for ‘The Longest Reading Marathon (Read Aloud).’
According to reports, he plans to read for 120 hours straight with only two hours break every 24 hours.
The book buff started reading at 1:30pm on Monday reading Carnivorous City by Toni Kan.
The reading marathon is ongoing at the You Read Library, Herbert Macaulay Way, Yaba in Lagos.
“I officially commenced my quest to break the record for The “Longest Marathon Reading Aloud” Category of the Guinness Book of World Records. So far I have done 10 hours of reading! Make sure you stop by tomorrow! Thank you all for the support” he wrote on his Instagram page.

Explaining the motive behind the initiative, he said : “I have always loved to read good materials right from when I was in secondary schoI am doing this for the culture! For the reading culture. I am doing this for the youths; to remind them that education is the bedrock of development.
I am doing this for Nigeria – for the world know we’re a great nation – and yes, we do have libraries!”he tweeted.
