Mercy Aigbe opens up about the challenges of single motherhood, says ‘I don’t wish it on anyone’

Nigerian actress Mercy Aigbe has shared her candid thoughts on single motherhood, revealing that she doesn’t wish the experience on any woman.

In a recent interview on the Real Talk with Kike show, Mercy Aigbe spoke about the difficulties she faced as a single mother, describing it as a draining experience that affects her financially, emotionally, morally, and mentally.

According to Mercy Aigbe, playing the role of two people – mother and father – is not easy, and she often prays for her children to have lasting relationships. She expressed her desire for her kids to avoid the challenges she faced as a single mother, saying, “I don’t wish it on anybody, it’s draining.”

Mercy Aigbe also reflected on her parenting style, admitting that she was harsh on her kids as they were growing up. She attributed this to her fear of failure, having already experienced failure in her personal life as a single mother. She didn’t want her kids to make mistakes or fail, not realizing that it’s a natural part of their growth and learning process.

The actress revealed that her fear of people laughing at her kids and saying they turned out badly because their mother was a single mum also contributed to her tough parenting style. She said, “I didn’t want people to laugh at me and say a single mum raised them, they can’t do anything good.”

Mercy Aigbe separated from Lanre Gentry, her ex-husband in 2017, over alleged domestic violence and infidelity.

However, in 2022, the actress unveiled popular marketer and businessman, Kazeem Adeoti as her husband.

They have been together ever since then.
