Nollywood actress, Patience Ozokwo has broken her silence following a recent allegation of grabbing a ‘family land’ owned by a widow and her daughter.
It would be recalled that a video of the 66-year-old accusing the respected actress of grabbing a land left to them by her deceased husband, had sparked mixed reactions online.
However, reacting to the development, Patience via her Instagram page on Tuesday explained that the land in question was legally purchased from the widow 15 years ago.
“In 2010 – 15 years ago, I bought a piece of land,” she wrote. “The land owner was aware of the sale. In fact, she was the one who approached my agent to help her find a buyer.”
She added that in 2024, the widow sold a portion of the land to another person without her consent.
The veteran actress noted that she acted swiftly to secure her property upon discovering the move from the widow.
“I got information, went and fenced my land,” she said.
Patience claimed that the widow and her daughter then resorted to social media to falsely accuse her of grabbing the only land left to them by their deceased husband and father.
“This is blackmail, fraud and malicious intent. I am marvelled that they could viciously lie and castigate me for their own selfish intent. They are using my name to trend and get pity from people,” she said.
The Everybody Loves Jenifa actress added that some unsuspecting Nigerians had begun donating money to the women and hurling insults at her, unaware of the full story.
“I see that their plans are working because some people are donating to them and calling me unprintable names,” she wrote.
The actress expressed deep disappointment, at bloggers who shared the allegations without verifying the information. She stressed that she has taken legal steps to protect her name.
“As social media is not a court, I am pursuing legal means to vindicate my name because it took years to build and is my source of livelihood. There is so much more that I could have done, but I chose to let the law take its cause,” she added. “Now I say to you ‘Meet Me in Court’.”
She also thanked fans and colleagues who reached out in support, saying, “Thank you to everyone who reached out to me on this incident. I appreciate you all.”
