Popular Nollywood script writer reveals reason he stopped writing movies that feature rituals or blood money

Valentine Ezeh, the Nollywood script writer, has disclosed the reason he stopped writing scripts that portrayed Igbo men as ritualists.

Ezeh stated on the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter) that he refused to depict hardworking Igbo men as ritualists. He came to this conclusion after noticing that many films portrayed the wealth of Igbo men as ill-gotten, suggesting it was obtained through diabolical means such as ritual killings and dubious kidnappings

He added that even though some producer offered him more money, he inisted that he would never make people percieve hard working Igbo men as ritualist.

In his words: “I stopped writing movie script that portraits Igbo men as ritualist when I noticed that some of my movies contributes heavily to the damages done to our race as Igbos.

“So many producers tried to plead with me to write ritual movie for them after that but I insist that I will never do it again even with the huge amount of money offered.

“It was fun initially telling fiction and imaginary stories but I noticed that I was making people that truly do not know our people perceive my Igbo brothers that hustle genuinely and make their money as ritualist. Is time to start doing things right.”
