One of the high points of Sunday’s Grammy Awards was the outfit Joy Villa wore to the event. She turned Donald Trump’s campaign slogan into a swanky gown. The 25-year-old singer who originally appeared in a flowing, conventional white dress, later unveiled her statement-making dress underneath the navy-blue dress — with details of red, silver and white.
Beneath the outfit is written the inscription: “Make America Great Again” along the front, while its train reads “TRUMP” in big, blinged-out letters.
Joy immediately created an uproar on social media. One of her fans who wasn’t comfortable with her outfit said:” @Joy_Villa imagine choosing to end your career before anyone even knew who you were”.
However, the singer chose to share the inspiration behind the outfit on Instagram.
According to her:” “Go big, or go home. You can either stand for what you believe or fall for what you don’t. Above all make a choice for tolerance and love. Agree to disagree”.
The designer of the controversial outfit, Andre Soriano said on Instagram that the gown is a “tribute [to] OUR President Of The United States Of America” adding the hashtag #MAGA.
