Afrobeat star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has come under criticism for casting his first-ever vote in a United States election.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that the award-winning artist and ‘Awuke’ crooner via X.com disclosed that he joined millions of Americans to vote on Tuesday’s US presidential election, choosing between Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump.
Davido shared a picture of himself displaying his “I’m a Georgia voter. I secured my vote!”
In another post, the singer via his verified handle urged American citizens to stay safe as they exercised their voting rights, saying, “Election day 🇱🇷 y’all be safe as you perform your constitutional rights.”
Reacting, some South Africans slammed the singer for voting in the US elections but not in the 2023 general elections held in Nigeria last year.
Matthew George wrote: “Nigerians are a special people, they vote everywhere but in their own country”
Another user, Bidden wrote: “He’s lying, he picked that sticker from trash bin.”
