Speed Darlington: List of Nigerian celebrities who have been sexually involved with a minor

A disturbing video of controversial Nigerian entertainer Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, during a live routine session, sparked outrage on social media on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.

During the session on Tuesday, Speed Darlington recounted an encounter with a 15-year-old girl at a Lagos hotel, which resulted in bloodied sheets.

According to the singer, during the session, he paid N2,000 to the hotel staff to change the sheets while expressing disdain for working for others, especially in hotels.

These statements by the singer which were made publicly and without remorse,  triggered outrage across social media platforms with many Nigerians taken to X (formerly Twitter) to express their anger, as they called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the singer.

Following the sad occurance, several male entertainers in Nigeria have been guilty of engaging in sexual misconduct with minors.

One of such is, Moses Armstrong , a popular Nollywood actor, who was arraigned for raping a minor – a teenage girl he adopted and has been living with his family.

The actor was first arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Uyo on June 17th, 2022 after he was charged with rape, intimidation, conspiracy and supplying drugs or instruments to procure abortion.

The national president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, in response to the incident, publicly condemned the act, describing the case as “a very serious one”.

The AGN president added that the organisation will not condone such a crime.

Rollas said: “To get involved with a child as young as 16yrs, is not something I and the association I represent, would stand for.

“This is a very sad development involving a member of ours, but I wouldn’t want to comment any further on this case.”

Another entertainer guilty of sexual misconduct against a minor, is Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, aka Baba Ijesha. The actor was arraigned on six counts of child defilement, indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration, and sexual assault by penetration.

Even though the actor pleaded not guilty, a Closed-Circuit Television Video footage detailing his relationship with the victim was played in court.

While delivering judgment, Justice  Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Lagos State Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court, Ikeja sentenced Baba Ijesha, to 16 years imprisonment for defilement.

The court found him guilty of indecent treatment of a child and sexual assault of a minor.

The Yoruba actor was also found guilty of indecently touching the minor and sexually assaulting her by rubbing her body and sucking her fingers.
