“There is life after the wedding o” – Lilian Afegbai in shock over $1,200 aso ebi price for Lagos wedding

Nollywood actress, Lilian Afegbai, has taken to social media to recount her experience after being asked to pay $1,200 (over N1.9 million) for aso ebi at a friend’s wedding in Lagos.

TheNewsGuru reports that the actress via her Instagram page on Wednesday, noted that she was left stunned when she saw the sale of aso-ebi were in dollars.

The 33-year-old actress explained she had eagerly congratulated her friend upon receiving the wedding invitation before discovering the cost of the chosen fabric.

She said, “Una Don dey sell aso ebi in dollars for Lagos? You people sell aso ebi for your own wedding in dollars now? You guys are doing too much!

“I was on my own when a friend of mine sent me an invitation to her wedding, after which I congratulated her happily. I checked the date to make sure the date didn’t clash with timing, that’s how I checked the price and saw 1200, I initially thought the price was in Naira, thinking, ‘shey she’s doing giveaway?’”

“But then I saw the dollar sign at the back. I was shocked! I converted it—$1,200 times N1,600… How many millions is that? For your own wedding? Is it my ‘I do’?”

The actress further advised that weddings should not be financially burdensome for guests, urging celebrants to be more considerate.

“It’s not good na, everybody should relax. There is life after the wedding o!” she added.
