Those days people feel sorry for you for choosing to be an entertainer-Dakore Egbuson Akande

Actress, Dakore Egbuson Akande has stated that back when she started out in Nollywood, people feel sorry for entertainers.

The classy role interpreter made this known as a guest speaker at the virtual 2021 edition of Nigeria Entertainment Conference(NEC).

“It’s a great time to be a creative in Nigeria and that is beautiful to see because it wasn’t something that was considered cool. People will actually feel sorry for you like :”Oh my God! This is what you want to do with your life? Act and sing”? It was a valid question to ask then because people weren’t making much more money than it’s been made now”.

The ‘Castle and Castle’ actress added that it is beautiful to behold the growth of the Nigerian entertainment industry.

In her words: ”To see from the time when it wasn’t cool to be an actor or a singer, or photographer or fashion designer and to see that change over the years, has been really something beautiful to behold. We are in a creative renaissance at this time where we are seeing everything and its all excellence.I came in as a lead actor in silent tears which was in 1998, so it’s been a long journey and a long time coming”.
