‘Ungrateful’ Ayra Star knocks Headies over best female artiste of the year award

Famous  Nigerian singer,  Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has declared that she’s not appreciative of the Best Female Artiste of the Year bestowed on her by the organisers of the Headies Awards on Sunday in America.

Recall that the 16th Headies Awards co-host, actress Osas Ighodaro, announced midway into the show that the ceremony had come to an end, with about 13 categories, including Best Female Artiste, yet to be presented.

The organizers later announced the winners of those categories via their social media pages.

Reacting via her platform  X page on Monday, Ayra Starr noted that she cannot appreciate an award that wasn’t announced on stage.

Her post reads “I will never be grateful for winning a category that wasn’t even deemed fit to be announced on stage. Best female artist na beans?

“We work hard, every single one of us! I’ve seen Tiwa record four hit songs in the same night; Tems breaths and lives for music. We didn’t deserve such nonchalance! Nigeria, you didn’t raise me to settle for less.”

This year’s edition of the Headies had sleazing performances from Afrobeats’ finest, and 14 awards were not announced on stage.
