Nollywood actress and filmmaker Eniola Ajao has come forward to deny allegations that she played a role in the arrest of popular cross-dresser Bobrisky.
The controversy surrounding Bobrisky’s arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been a topic of discussion in the entertainment industry, with many speculating about the circumstances that led to his detention.
According to Ajao, Bobrisky’s arrest was not a result of any personal dispute between them, but rather due to alleged financial misconduct, specifically currency mutilation and abuse of the Naira.
Ajao explained that she had awarded Bobrisky the “Best Dressed Female” prize at her movie premiere to promote her film, which sparked negative reactions from some of her colleagues.
She said: “I gave the best-dressed female award to Bobrisky to promote my movie, but I didn’t know that my colleagues would react negatively to it. I was very sad to see that my colleagues in the movie industry were fighting over the decision, and I later had to call them and explain what my intention was.”
”I don’t have any issue with Bobrisky; he knew why he was arrested, and no matter how I try to explain to people on social media, they won’t believe me. I have a very good relationship with Bobrisky, and he knows that I have always been a good friend to him. I wasn’t behind Bobrisky’s arrest; he was arrested because of money, and I always visit him. Many of his friends neglected him when he was arrested, but I stood by him”.
Despite the backlash, Ajao maintained that she has a good relationship with Bobrisky and stood by him during his arrest when many of his friends abandoned him.
The actress emphasized that she wasn’t behind Bobrisky’s arrest and that she has always been a good friend to him. Ajao also mentioned that she visits him, showing her support during difficult times.
