Super Eagles drop in FIFA rankings

Despite humiliating Sao Tome 10-0 and Sierra Leone by 2-1 Nigeria’s  Super Eagles  have dropped one place  in the  FIFA world rankings for the Month of June.

The Super Eagles are now are now ranked 31st in the world as against its previous position of 30th and 3rd best in Africa.

Recall that Nigeria climbed up to the  30th  position in March after the country featured at AFCON 2021.

However, Jose Peseiro’s side are currently the 4th best team in Africa, while the Teranga Lions of Senegal are number one in Africa and now the 18th best team in the world.

Behind Senegal are Morocco, the second-best team in Africa, while Tunisia are the third-best team in Africa.
WorldCup bound Tunisia overtook Nigeria to climb to the third position on the African continent and moved to 30th in the world.

Behind Nigeria are Cameroon, Egypt, Algeria and Mali in fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth place, respectively.

Brazil retains  the number one position in the world and closely followed by Belgium, Argentina, France, England, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal and Denmark, making the top 10.

Others that made the list from 11-20 positions are Germany, Mexico, Uruguay, USA, Croatia, Switzerland, Colombia, Senegal, Wales and Sweden.

This is the first time in 5 years that Two South American football giants Brazil and Argentina will make the top three in world rankings.
