Families of two women who went missing after visiting Aba man demand answers from Police

The families of two young women Celine Ndudim and Afiba Tandor who went missing after they visited an Aba-based man, Andrew Amechi Ochekwo have called on the Nigerian police to provide answers as they believe they are still alive.

It would be recalled that Ndudim and her friend Tandor left Port Harcourt to Aba to visit Ochekwo. Shortly after the visit, they cried for help saying Andrew had kidnapped them and since then, have been missing.

Speaking with the BBC, Ndudim’s sister, Tessy disclosed that she went to the police immediately after she got a call on April 27 from her sister’s friend who said Ndudim sent her a WhatsApp message that she and Tandor had been kidnapped by the man they went to visit in Aba.

The police had earlier said they recovered one body close to the place where the girls shared their last location before their phones went off.

However, reports say the body discovered was headless with body parts missing.

“The police would have rescued my sister and her friend that week I reported to them but they didn’t take it serious. They told me it was a gradual process and that wherever they are, they will not be harmed,” she said.

Tessy said the response from the police made her petition Police Zone 9 in Umuahia which gave an order for them to check out the same location that the women shared before their phones went off.

She said police from Umuahia Command were the ones that got Amechi arrested.

Tessy further called on Abia State Government to intervene, adding that the family has been heartbroken over the incident.

Tandor’s husband while speaking to newsmen revealed that he was in contact with his wife from Accra, Ghana to Lagos then to Owerri before she and her friend got to Port Harcourt and travelled to Aba but became worried when she no longer responded to chats.

He expressed displeasure with the way the police handled the matter.

He said he did not believe that the body recovered was for one of the women unless a DNA test is conducted.

Meanwhile, Blogger Harrison Gwamnishu, who has been following the case recently reported on May 31, 2024 that Amechi died during a gunfire between police and some vigilantes while Amechi was been transferred from Aba to Abuja.

Tandor’s husband said he does not believe Amechi has been killed unless he sees the body.

“Andrew Amechi is a sociopath that even British police declared wanted so he is not a person the police can handle like a small child. Let them find and rescue my wife and ensure justice is served on the matter,” he said.

Gwamnishu had to visit the mortuary, sharing Amechi’s body.

The police are yet to release a statement on the matter.
