The Delta State Police Command has refuted reports alleging the arrest of Pastor David Favour Love, husband of late Shimite Bello, the Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, on Trade and Export who died on Easter Sunday.
TheNewsGuru reports that Delta State Governor’s special adviser, Shimite Bello popularly known as Madam Sabificate, allegedly died of poisoning.
Family sources disclosed that her husband, Pastor David Favour Love, has been arrested by the police following allegations that he poisoned her.
Witnesses also claimed she was foaming at the mouth before her death. The late adviser reportedly passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital, Asaba, where she was rushed for emergency treatment.
Confirming the demise, Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State disclosed that it has commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Bello.
The Police spokesman further added that Shimite’s husband is under protective custody, and not under arrest, stressing that the police are proceeding with a thorough investigation.
Edafe further stated that the deceased’s family expressed suspicion that the husband may have played a role in Shimite’s death, adding the need for an autopsy to determine whether the death was natural or due to other causes.
He said, “He (the husband) was the one who called to report that his wife died early this morning and that he was receiving threats from her family, who feared he might be attacked. It was on this basis that we went to his house and brought him in for his own safety.
“The situation became more complex when the deceased’s family later lodged a formal complaint with the police.
“We are currently investigating. In situations like this, only an autopsy can determine whether the death was natural or due to other causes.”
