Urhobo nation holds 13th International conference in America [Photos]

The 13th International Conference of Urhobo Historical Society, themed ‘Aspects of Urhobo Culture’ held at New York University, USA.

The event which was spearheaded by President Olorogun Dr Aruegodore Oyiborhoro, featured Folklore $ Poetry, Music, Language, Cosmology, Religion- Continuity & Change.

Many prominent Urhobo sons & daughters, couple with some seasoned professionals, academia across the United States, the UK and Nigeria attended the event which was also zoomed real time throughout the two – days event.

Other presenters through zoom was Prof. Mrs Rose Aziza of the Delta State University, her paper titled: ‘Developing, promoting and Sustaining the Urhobo Language: challenges and Solution’; and several other speakers.

The Chairman of the sessions was Olorogun Jonathan O Esin, from Nigeria and the immediate Past President of Urhobo Leadership Forum, Abuja.

The highly successful conference climaxed with Gala Night and Dinner, featuring Urhobo delicacies, the David Dafinone and Micheal Ibru Award, and the David Ejoor Award to Olorogun Rebecca  Efeotor, a UK-based businesswoman and Olorogun, Simeon Ohwofa, former president of Urhobo Social Club of Lagos, respectively and the Very Rev. Dr. Abaka Oghenejode recipient of UHS Life-Time Service Award.

The Chairman of the occasion, Olorogun Jonathan O Esin made an appeal for Massive Financial support for the Re-launch of the UHS Endowment Fund for its many valuable contributions and projects to the development of the Urhobo Nation.
