4 million doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine arrive Nigeria

Four million doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine have arrived Nigeria in two planes.

The vaccine was received by officials from the UN children agency UNICEF on behalf of Nigeria at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

It was the second batch of vaccines Nigeria has received after the four million doses of Astrazeneca-oxford vaccine delivered in March under the Covax scheme.

On Friday, the Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Faisal Shuaib said Nigeria will take delivery of four million doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine in less than 72 hours.

“In less than 72 hours, Nigeria will be receiving up to 4 million doses of the Moderna vaccine.

“We are excited that this presents another opportunity for us to advance the protection of Nigerians against the COVID-19 virus, especially the Delta variant”, he said.
