40-year-old man remanded for allegedly stealing electrical cable

A 40-year-old man, Seun Olakunle has been remanded in a correctional center for breaking into a house and stealing an electrical cable valued N3 million.

B.A. Sonuga, the Chief Magistrate of the Ikorodu Chief Magistrates’ Court, ordered the defendant’s remand after he pleaded guilty to theft.

Sonuga then adjourned the case till July 17 to review the facts and sentencing.

The Prosecutor, ASP Aminu Isaac, informed the court that the defendant committed the offense on June 19 at approximately 6 a.m. at No. 5 Aliqoda Street in the Oreyo area of Ikorodu.

Isaac stated that the defendant stole an electrical cable belonging to the complainant, Mr. Olawale Abimbola. He noted that this action violates Sections 307(2), 339, and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The section 287 prescribes a three-year prison term for theft.
