A yet to be identified 45-year-old electrician has lost his life after being electrocuted while working on an electric pole.
The spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, noting that it occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m on August 10.
The electrician was reportedly reconnecting electricity cables when he came in contact with a live wire and was electrocuted.
The matter was reported to the police at 12:04 p.m. by a resident of the area. A team of detectives from the command swiftly responded to the scene.
The victim was rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was confirmed dead by the attending doctor.
According to Hundeyin, investigations into the circumstances surrounding the electrocution are ongoing.
“At about 12:04hrs, one xxx ‘m’ of Shasha reported that, on same day at about 11:30hrs, one 45 year old electrician was electrocuted in Shasha while he was reconnecting electricity cables to an electric pole at the aforementioned area,” he said.
“A team of police detectives visited the scene, he was rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. Meanwhile, an investigation is in progress.”
