26 buildings, fuel stations sealed in Ogun over permit

The Ogun State Government has sealed 26 illegal buildings, including gas outlets, petrol filling stations and commercial buildings, for non-compliance with the physical planning law of the state.

The government, in a statement on Sunday, said it also served contravention notice on five commercial buildings at Mowe/Ofada in the Obafemi/Owode Local Government Area of the state.

The statement said the state Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Tunji Odunlami, disclosed this after a routine enforcement exercise in the axis.

Odulami noted that the government had earlier warned that it would not condone illegal building constructions without planning permits, as they were inimical to the developmental plan of the state.

He stated that the sealed properties were developed in breach of the building law, which included non-compliance with space standards, approved planning permit, construction of additional structures without permit, among others.

While advising property owners to finalise their applications for prompt delivery, Odunlami reiterated that development permits could be obtained through a seamless process following the new reforms put in place by the government.
