Alleged Messy Police Recruitment: Katsina activist raises alarm over detention of 24 men after paying N700k each

 

…begs religious organisations to intervene

…they were made to adopt names, posted to divisions after six months arm training

…some of their parents sold landed properties to pay

A trending video depicting how 24 young men were allegedly detained by the police over illegal recruitment into the police force has gone viral in the social media.

The well detailed account by the Katsina activist who was just released by the police gave a vivid detail of the recruitment process and those who allegedly collected N700k from the 24young men.

The major concern of the narrator is that the men should be released because they have been exposed to arms training and could turn against the state to avenge their detention and ill-treatment by the police.

He appealed to all religious organisations to speak up as the young men consists of both Christians and Muslims from different states in the northern part of Nigeria.

The activist who claimed he had one on one interaction with the men said”there are 17 Christians and 7 Muslims presently facing incarceration at Area 10 Force CID Abuja.

He explained that some of the victims parents sold landed properties to pay the alleged bribe requested by one Yerima Augustine to get recruited.

When contacted, the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mbah didn’t pick his and has not responded to SMS demanding for a reaction on the allegations.
