Anambra 2025: ADC harps on credible election

African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called for a free, fair and transparent governorship election in Anambra on Nov. 8.

ADC National Chairman, Dr Ralph Nwosu, made the call during the presentation of the party flag and certificate of returns to Mr John Nwosu, the party’s governorship candidate for Anambra on Monday in Abuja.

Nwosu said that credibility of the elections, especially that of Anambra was very important as a demonstration of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration’s commitment to the 2027 general elections.

“Some of our young men are ready to contest, hence the need for a level playing field,” he said, adding that this would put the country’s democracy on the path of recovery.

Nwosu, who also urged the Federal Government not to play politics with nation’s monetary policy, stressed the need for transparency and truth in governance.

According to him, economic recovery is impossible without honest data and independent institutions.

On his governorship ambition, Nwosu, while expressing confidence in winning the Nov. 8 election, promised to run a government based on transparency, inclusivity and sustainable development.

“Now is the time to come together for the good of all, most especially for the good of Ndi Anambra. Today, the people of Anambra State have a credible alternative to the incumbent,” he said.

The governorship candidate pledged to run an administration rooted in transparency, accountability, inclusivity and sustainable development if elected governor.

He also assured that his administration would prioritise public engagement and uphold the rights of every citizen, saying the people of Anambra deserved a government that would truly listen and deliver.

He said that his administration would deliver on education, health, security and other dividends of democracy in the state.

“We are conscious of the needs and unmet needs of Ndi Anambra. As such, we are committed to building a government anchored on transparency, accountability, inclusivity and sustainable development.

“We are obligated to listen to your voices, uphold your rights and work tirelessly to deliver the dividends of democracy to every corner of our dear state,” he stated.

Nwosu, while expressing appreciation to his supporters, urged the people of the state to support his ambition, saying it was time to come together for the good of all.

Nwosu’s running mate, Geoffrey Ndubisi, described ADC as a better alternative for Anambra in the forthcoming election.

According to Ndubisi, the people of the state are earnestly waiting to cast their vote for the party.
